Stalemate Trick
What it is
A stalemate trick is a defensive save in which the losing side deliberately reaches a position where they are not in check but have no legal move — an immediate draw, snatched from a lost game.
When to use it
Use it when you are hopelessly behind in material but your king and remaining pieces are so restricted that giving away everything, or hiding the king in a corner, leaves you with no moves.
How to use it
Reduce your own mobility on purpose: sacrifice your last active pieces with checks or offers the opponent must accept, until only the king remains boxed with no squares. Watch for the opponent's careless capture that removes your final legal move.
