Long Forcing Calculation
What it is
This is the discipline of calculating a long chain of forcing moves — one where every move is a check, capture or direct threat — all the way to a position you can clearly evaluate as winning.
When to use it
Use it whenever the position is sharp and concrete: sacrifices are in the air, both kings are exposed, or you sense a combination but must prove it works before committing material.
How to use it
Follow the forcing tree move by move. At each step calculate the opponent's forced replies, prune the lines that fail, and keep going until you reach mate or a clearly won material balance. Forcing moves limit the opponent's options, which is what makes deep calculation possible.
